**THE RESIDENCY AT LANE MUSIC (sponsored by Joel Eagle Enterprises)
Starting in March 2019, Wendel has been presenting one concert per month at Lane Music in West Knoxville, Tn. Each concert is completely different than the rest. All concerts will cost $20 per person. All concerts start at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm.

The line up for the 2019 concerts are as follows:
APRIL 20–WENDEL WERNER and TERRY SCHMIDT
Come celebrate this reunion as saxophonist Terry Schmidt returns. The two will perform the music that made them a staple in the Knoxville jazz community.
MAY 18–WENDEL DOES BROADWAY
Wendel presents an entire evening of Broadway music but puts his own spin of each selection.
JUNE 15–WENDEL WERNER featuring JAN COE (limited seating to allow for voluntary meditation)
Jan Coe has become one of the leading musicians/clinicians in the Knoxville area concerning sound therapy. Come listen, lie down, meditate as Wendel and Jan combine the piano and singing bowls to produce a unique concert experience.
JULY 27—WENDEL WERNER PRESENTS: AN EVENING OF ELTON
Wendel brings a concert entirely made up of the music of Elton John.
AUGUST 24–WENDEL’S ANNUAL BEATLES BIRTHDAY BASH
This year’s Beatles Birthday Bash will return to Lane Music as part of Wendel’s residency. As a way to celebrate his birthday, he plays the music of the Beatles all night.
SEPTEMBER 28—WENDEL WERNER PRESENTS: A NIGHT of QUEEN
In this concert, Wendel takes on the music of Queen for the entire evening. Be prepared to sing along.
OCTOBER 12—WENDEL WERNER, ALONE
Most of the other concerts in this residency will have Wendel performing with other musicians. In this concert, it’s just him and the piano.
NOVEMBER 16–WENDEL WERNER and the STRANGE RELATIONSHIP.
Come hear Wendel’s new band. The all-female Strange Relationship has three horn players and four singers. The majority of their music is bluesy, original, and fun.
DECEMBER 14–CD RELEASE CONCERT
Wendel’s last recording came out in 2015. As of this date, the wait will be over. Come to the concert and experience the music on the new recording live.

Wendel Werner, known as Knoxville's pianist, is an accomplished singer, director, composer, producer, teacher and clinician. His career began in 1974, as he sat behind the piano for the first time. Born in Little Rock, AR, he found himself traveling the United States as a child of the US Air Force. High school found him in Memphis, TN where he helped win the Best Jazz Band award, and won the Best Soloist award from the Dogwood Arts Jazz Festival. He went on to compose and direct his high school's musical his Senior year.
Wendel received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Tennessee, and was hired to teach at a local college before finishing his graduate studies. He has worked as the pianist or music director for over ten churches, and has taught at six colleges.
Wendel has released over 12 albums, including four with singer Alan Eleazer, four with saxophonist Terry Schmidt, and several solo albums including his gospel album entitled "Spiritual," and a blues album entitled "Cool by Design." A new album is planned for 2019.
He is in high demand as a music director and lecturer, and travels regularly as a performer. Wendel was Modern Studio's 2018 Artist-in-Residence, which included a solo performance each month in addition to curating a concert series and producing/directing several shows.
